About Oregon PIRC

Family

The Oregon Parental Information and Resource Center (Oregon PIRC) provides resources, information, and training to parents and educators throughout Oregon to more effectively connect families and schools in ways that create success for all of Oregon’s children and youth.

Our Goals

The Oregon PIRC has four main goals that drive the delivery of our services:

  1. Further the development and school-readiness of young children through parent education programs
  2. Strengthen school-family partnerships for student success
  3. Assist families in understanding state and local report cards and their rights under No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
  4. Coordinate school-family partnerships activities among agencies and organizations to ensure that families and schools are served statewide

Our Services

Oregon PIRC provides a variety of services to both parents and educators throughout the state. We provide:

  • Information about high quality family involvement programs
  • Face-to-face training workshops at meetings and conferences
  • Email and telephone technical assistance
  • Targeted, onsite assistance to schools
  • An annual Family-School Partnership Summit
  • Translations and revisions of resources to make them more family-friendly (in multiple languages and at various literacy levels)
  • A wealth of materials through our Web site and e-newsletters

Our Clients

The Oregon PIRC works primarily with families and parents throughout the state, with a special emphasis on bilingual and immigrant families. We also work with educators, schools and school districts, nonprofits, and other youth-serving organizations.
